The political economy of Central America continues to generate migration toward the United States but, increasingly confronting the possibility of remaining in Mexico for indefinite periods.
What are the contexts in which decisions to migrate are made? What is the political field that has emerged around this particular exodus?
Join our international conference in which we bring together scholars and activists from various Central American countries, Mexico and the United States to discuss economies of migration and their political productivity.
On April 4th we will be holding two main discussions (from 9 am to 6 pm) in the Dodge Room at Earl Hall: "The horror of the familiar" and "Economies of Central American Migration".
On April 5th three of our guests will discuss "Public Policies and Media Attention in Mexico" and we will conclude with a round table and open discussion. This will happen from 9 am to 1 pm at the Seminar Room of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race, located at 420 Hamilton Hall.
