This event will take place on College Walk (116th and Broadway) on the Morningside Campus.
Columbia University Public Safety is partnering with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to provide a safe disposal location for unused prescription medications in Upper Manhattan as part of the DEA’s annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. This event allows anyone in the community to anonymously turn in their unused or expired prescription medication (pills or patches only) for safe disposal, free of charge. Vape pens or other e-cigarette devices, with the batteries already removed, will also be accepted for collection from individual consumers only.
Since its inception in 2010, the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back events have resulted in the safe collection and disposal of more than 11 million pounds of pills.
We encourage our neighbors to join us participating in this important initiative. Together, we can ensure the health and safety of the University and its surrounding communities.
