University Senate Committee on the Rules of University Conduct | Review of the Rules of University Conduct 2023-24
Background | The University Senate’s Committee on the Rules of University Conduct (“the Rules Committee”) is undertaking a review of the Rules of University Conduct (“the Rules”). The Rules state that the Rules Committee will, at least every four years, facilitate a public discussion about whether the Rules merit revision. In addition to requesting comments about the Rules and accompanying Guidelines to the Rules of University Conduct, the Committee is also seeking comments regarding the Interim University Policy for Safe Demonstrations.
Listening Forums | The Committee will hold the following listening forums to hear the comments, concerns, and suggestions of the Columbia community:
- Wednesday, February 21, 2024, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (via Zoom) Register here
- Thursday, February 22, 2024, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (via Zoom): Open to all CUIMC affiliates Register here
- Tuesday, February 27, 2024, 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm (in person); Room 417, International Affairs Building (Altschul Auditorium) Register here
These listening forums are intended to solicit comments on the Rules and the accompanying Guidelines and, in particular:
- Aspects that should remain;
- Specific suggestions for potential amendments to the Rules and/or Guidelines; and
- Suggested additions of new content to the Rules and/or Guidelines.
The intent of the listening forums is not to:
- Provide interpretation on the Rules or Guidelines;
- Answer questions;
- Comment on current disciplinary proceedings.
- All current CUID holders are welcome and registration is now open.
- Participants can submit comments in advance via email to [email protected], during the forum via the chat function, or during the forum, using the raise-hand function in Zoom.
- In the in-person forum, microphones will be set up for participants.
- Once recognized, each participant will have 4 minutes.
