Pierre Claver Mbonimpa will speak about the current crisis in Burundi and recent findings by the UN Human Rights Council that Burundi's top leaders and security agencies have committed crimes against humanity. Mbonimpa, hailed as the "grandfather" of the human rights movement in Burundi, is the founder of the Association for the Protection of Human Rights and Detained Persons, the 2017 Civil Courage Prize Laureate, and 2016 recipient of the Alison Des Forges Award for Extraordinary Activism. Lunch will be provided.
