Please join the Polish Cultural Institute, the Polish Book Institute, the East Central European Center, and the Harriman Institute for a talk with Krzysztof Koehler, poet, literary critic, essayist, and Deputy Director the Polish Book Institute. Introduction by Eliza Rose, discussion moderated by Christopher J. Caes.
Krzysztof Koehler will provide a brief overview of the background and history of the Found in Translation Award, a platform for promoting contemporary Polish literature by supporting and showcasing emerging writers and translators. Since 2008, the Found in Translation Award has celebrated the author or co-authors of the best English translation of Polish literature published in the previous year. Taken together, the Award's past and present nominees make a useful roadmap for the literary landscape in Poland today.
Koehler will present this year’s nominees and foreground the uniqueness of the contemporary literary landscape in Poland. He will introduce books recently translated and published in the United States and United Kingdom. The event will end with an open discussion. Curious readers are invited to come encounter new books from Poland.
