Remarks by Haruhiko Kuroda, Governor of the Bank of Japan (March 2013 - April 2023) and dialogue with Alan S. Blinder, the Gordon S. Rentschler Memorial Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (1994-1996).
Governor Kuroda’s visit to Columbia University in the week of April 17 will be the first time that he will openly speak on his experiences conducting unconventional monetary policy for ten years, overcoming deflation; and coming very close to achieving the 2% inflation target. He will be also be discussing the future of international monetary system, as he was previously responsible for Japan’s international financial policies when he was Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs and when he was leading the Asian Development Bank.
