Intro to Audacity (free audio editing software)

December 8, 2021
7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
America/New_York
Dodge Hall, 2960 Broadway, New York, NY 10027

In this in-person* workshop, there will be a basic overview of the Audacity software interface. Audacity is a great introductory tool for digital music production and audio editing, as it is free to download on both Mac and PC, and it has the ability to create fully realized music and audio works. Topics covered will include creating a new project, recording live music performance, editing audio, basic mixing, and exporting your final track. No prior musical or audio editing experience required.

(* Can't make the in-person session? A Zoom version of this workshop will be offered on 12/17/21 at 6pm; click the Workshops link below for further details.)  No prior experience is required. Bringing your laptop with Audacity installed is recommended, but not required.

Taught by John Levee, graduate student in the MFA Sound Art program.

Open to CU students, faculty, and staff. Valid GreenPass is required for entry to Dodge Hall. The workshop will be held in the Seminar Room of the Music & Arts Library, 701 Dodge.

This session is part of the Music Technology Workshops series, from the Music & Arts Library. Please check the Workshops page, at: https://library.columbia.edu/using-libraries/workshops.html   for additional workshops in the Fall 21 and Spring 22 semesters.
