Join us to hear Masha Gessen, Winner of the 2022 John Chancellor Award for Excellence in Journalism and staff writer at The New Yorker in conversation with Dean Jelani Cobb. 

Gessen is one of the foremost experts on Vladimir Putin and his rise to power in Russia; has covered L.G.B.T. rights; the Ukraine war; Donald Trump; and many more, for The New Yorker and others. Their foresight, thought-provoking analysis, and courage have been the hallmark of a long journalistic career. 

Gessen is the author of twelve books, including “Surviving Autocracy” and “The Future Is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia,” which won the National Book Award in 2017.
