Neuroscience in Action: A Conversation About Early Life Trauma and the Brain

Speakers: Nim Tottenham, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, Columbia University Kimberly Noble, Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Education, Teachers College, Columbia University Kristin Bernard, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, Stony Brook University Join Trauma-Free NYC, in collaboration with the Center for Science and Society, for the second event in our 2018 Speaker Series. This talk takes a closer look at how exposure to psychosocial adversity relates to children’s behavioral and neurobiological development. The speakers will present recent findings onemotional and cognitive development and their associated biological correlates. They will also discuss the pathways that increase risk and resilience across development, as well as potential intervention strategies. The talk will take place from 4:30-6:00pm followed by a light reception.
