A hands-on introduction to a leading qualitative analysis software, which enables scholars to identify and organize themes through hand coding, searching and coding, and some automatic coding, to filter that thematic material through imported sets of attributes, and to search and analyze that material in powerful ways. It is available in both Windows and Mac versions, the Windows version being slightly more fully featured. The software is available free for charge on an annual basis to Columbia faculty, students and staff from http://www.qsrinternational.com/support/downloads. Be sure to also download the license number that will enable you to use the software for more than a 14-day trial period from https://www1.columbia.edu/sec-cgi-bin/cul/digctr/nvivo. If you plan to bring your own laptop, please download and install the software before the class.
