Each fall President Lee C. Bollinger kicks off the academic year with the Fun Run, a five kilometer run/walk through Riverside Park. The Fun Run started in 2002 as part of President Bollinger's Inauguration festivities. The event is open to all Columbia students, faculty and staff, and is co-sponsored by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Physical Education and the Columbia Alumni Association.
Timing
Check-in: 7:30 a.m. – 8:10 a.m.
Start Time of the Run: 8:15 a.m.
The event will take place rain or shine.
Location
The Fun Run/Walk will start on College Walk (116th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam) and proceed through Riverside Park, ending at the promenade overlook at 116th Street.
Who Can Participate?
All Columbia students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to participate in the Fun Run. Online registration is required.
Accessibility
The Fun Run is open to individuals of all abilities. The course is mostly flat with several small, but moderately steep, hills. Although the course is paved, conditions vary and the course may develop puddles or mud depending on the weather. There are no steps/stairs on the course.

Registration, Waiver, and Release Form
Online registration is required. Registration will open on Thursday, September 28 at 2:00 p.m.
Upon registering, you will receive an email with directions for printing the Fun Run Waiver and Release Form. All Runners/walkers need to sign the waiver form or they will not be able to participate.
