Join us for a conversation with Leah Goldmann, MPA '16 Co-founder of the Society for Gender Professionals, and Senior Program Officer at Raising Voices, on preventing gender-based violence.
Bio:
Leah currently works in Kampala, Uganda as a Senior Program Officer for Raising Voices, a non-profit working toward the prevention of violence against women and children. She supports national, regional, and global advocacy initiatives to strengthen feminist-informed policy and programming on violence against women prevention. Previously, she worked as a Social Behavior Change Communication Officer for the Ugandan Ministry of Health, developing policies, guidelines, and curricula to build the MoH's foundation in rights-based and gender transformative approaches, including the creation of a sexual harassment prevention and response system for the Ugandan health sector. She also worked with Save the Children at their New York Advocacy Office, championing children's rights at the UN level. Leah received her Masters in Public Administration, with a focus on Human Rights and Gender from Columbia University in New York. She’s a co-founder of the Society for Gender Professionals, a feminist, non-profit organization of gender practitioners, academics, and activists dedicated to promoting feminist action and applied research, and raising the profile of gender expertise around the world.
