What does it feel like to find and carry your own drinking water every day? In sub-Saharan Africa the average person walks over 3 miles per day to get drinking water? At Columbia University it is the Year of Water, and what better way to appreciate the access we have to clean, drinkable water than “walking in the shoes” of those without such access.
Experience what it takes to carry the amount of water an average person needs each day, 4 gallons, or 33 pounds. Anytime between 11:00am and 2:00pm for 10min of your time – to gain a new perspective on water access and help raise awareness about the water crisis.
Walk 5 laps while carrying buckets of water to take home a water bottle for your support. Try to walk the most laps to win a weekend at an eco-friendly hotel!
