Yiddish at Columbia has a long and storied history, and the Columbia libraries' Yiddish collections date back to the 15th century! The Rare Book and Manuscript Library is hosting an exhibition in the Chang Octagon Gallery featuring items from across the rare collections that relate to Yiddish theatre, Yiddish press, Yiddish as used in religious practice, and of course, the history of Yiddish as it was taught and studied at Columbia.
