The Center for the Study of Social Difference celebrates the publication of Democracy and the Welfare State: The Two Wests in the Age of Austerity, with a panel discussion and reception to follow. Co-editors Alice Kessler-Harris and Maurizio Vaudagna will be in conversation with Volker Berghahn, Yasmine Ergas, Linda Gordon, and Frances Fox Piven. Books will be for sale. Co-sponsored by Department of History, ISERP, The Society of Fellows and Heyman Center for the Humanities, IRWGS, Women Creating Change at CSSD, and Columbia University Press.
