Butler Library, 535 W. 114 St., New York, NY 10027 208B
Head to the Library this fall to learn the ins and outs of academic journal editing and publishing! This workshop series hosted by our Digital Publishing Librarian will explore hot topics in academic publishing and teach practical skills in editing, digital production, marketing and more. Over the course of the six-week series students will learn about the publishing cycle from submission to editing to publication while having the opportunity to interrogate publication ethics and traditional practices. In addition to our one hour, in-person workshops will be learning to use the journal publishing software Open Journals Systems by publishing a journal of student perspectives on current debates in scholarly communication. If you are interested, as a future scholar and author, in understanding how the academic publishing system works or are curious about publishing as a career, this series is a unique professional development opportunity here at Columbia designed especially for undergraduates. Join us on September 20 from 12-1pm in the Studio@Butler (Butler Library 208B). This sis-part series will take place from 12-1 on consecutive Friday afternoons. Students who attend all workshops and contribute to the group journal project will be recognized with a certificate of completion from Columbia University Libraries.
