Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University
In 2009, Johns Hopkins Biomedical Engineering (JH BME) launched an experiment to test an idea: can a program combine best practices from industry and academia, and combine a mission with both education and innovation as equal goals? What does it take for such a program to succeed? After eleven years, The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation & Design (CBID) has a preliminary answer. This presentation will review the nature of the MSE and undergraduate programs at JH BME, designed and implemented by the CBID team and the School of Medicine. The speaker, Dr. Youseph Yazdi, has led CBID since 2009 and looks forward to sharing with faculty and students some of the outcomes, models developed, and challenges faced, and to hear suggestions and insights from the BME program at Columbia University.
