DINNER PANEL Operation Water Panel: Finance to Impact

March 25, 2020
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
America/New_York
Pulitzer Hall, 2950 Broadway, New York, NY 10027 World Room
Ryan Phillips-Page and Yogesh Mago both came from finance careers. They came together to build Operation Water, a nonprofit on a mission to deliver clean water solutions to the greatest number of people in need, at the lowest cost per person, by developing sustainable infrastructure projects. By putting together a team of finance, infrastructure, and business development professionals, including Brett Stewart, CBS’05, as an advisor, Operation Water offers a unique financing model that incentivizes large scale, long-term infrastructure development and sustainment. Ryan and Yogesh are committed to leading the effort to end the global water crisis in the next 30 years. Approximately 663 million people, about 9% of the global population, lack access to improved drinking water sources. While Operation Water currently focuses on creating water infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa, organizations are working to increase access to potable water across the globe. The key difference is that in the developed world, water access manifests itself in the form of contamination problems. In our own backyard, Newark, New Jersey is addressing lead contamination challenges today. Join us for an evening of conversation about the status of the global water crisis, new tech on the rise to solve these challenges, and where you can fit in locally or globally! --------- This event in support of Columbia University’s Year of Water. Join us for upcoming events around awareness, sustainability investing, and entrepreneurship that address global and local water injustice. These events are open to all students across Columbia University, including Barnard, Teachers College, and Union Theological Seminary.
