Important Note

Registration required. Please note that all attendees must follow Columbia’s COVID-19 Policies and Guidelines. Columbia University is committed to protecting the health and safety of its community.  To that end, all visiting alumni and guests must meet the University requirement of full vaccination status in order to attend in-person events.  Vaccination cards may be checked upon entry to all venues.

Please join us for the screening of Youth (2022) and a Zoom Q&A discussion with the film director Dmitrii Davydov. Hailing from the Sakha Republic, Davydov is the director of the prize-winning drama Scarecrow (2020) which popularized Yakut cinema both in the festival circuit and the regional box-office. Premiering in January 2023, Youth is Davydov’s latest film, a witty and refreshing musical comedy set in a small town in Yakutia. Puting the denizens of the periphery in the spotlight, Youth tells a story of a home-coming with warmth and good-humor.  Youth is the second movie of the Spring 2023 Harriman Film Series Peripheral Vision, which explores the anti-imperial gaze in contemporary Russian cinema. Screening and discussion moderated by Mark Lipovetsky and Tatiana Efremova.
